BrisKA Charity

Aim and Vision
The BrisKA Charity Foundation was established with the aim and vision of supporting people in need and working towards a better quality of life for all humankind, with a particular focus on supporting people from Kerala. The Foundation remains committed to promoting compassion, unity, and social responsibility through meaningful charitable action.

Key Humanitarian Initiatives
As part of its ongoing charitable mission, BrisKA actively participated in several humanitarian initiatives during the reporting period. On 2 September 2017, BrisKA supported a Food for the Needy scheme by providing meals to those in need, in cooperation with Nirman Sewak Jatha – Sikh Temple, St. George, Bristol. This initiative demonstrated BrisKA’s strong commitment to community service and interfaith collaboration.
In response to the devastating floods in Kerala, BrisKA launched the BrisKA Flood Relief Fund. Recognising its moral and social responsibility, the association appealed to its members to contribute compassionately towards the rescue and relief efforts in the affected regions. Members of the BrisKA Committee personally visited members’ homes to collect donations, demonstrating dedication, solidarity, and effective leadership. The generous response from members highlighted the strong community spirit and humanitarian values upheld by BrisKA.

Community Support and Bereavement Assistance
It was with deep sorrow that the BrisKA community learned of the passing of Rameshan Chettan (Remesan Cherichal), a well-known and respected member of the community, on 15 August 2024 at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, following a sudden stroke and subsequent cardiac arrest.
In response to this tragic loss, BrisKA launched a fundraising initiative to support his children. The fundraising goal was set at £25,000, aimed at providing financial stability and essential support during a period of great hardship. Members of the community came together in unity to contribute generously and to offer their thoughts and prayers to the bereaved family. This collective effort served as a meaningful tribute to Rameshan Chettan and reflected the compassion and solidarity that define the BrisKA community.

Member-Led Charitable Activities
BrisKA members continued to demonstrate strong commitment to charitable initiatives, playing an important role in supporting those in need. Local affiliated associations organised various events to promote and support charitable causes within the wider community.

Individual BrisKA-affiliated members and associations also contributed to fundraising efforts for worthy causes. Santhosh Puthetu, a member of BrisKA and Sneha Ayalkkoottam Fishponds, raised funds in support of Dementia UK. In addition, members of the Brentry and Henbury Keralites Association undertook a fundraising initiative in July 2024 in support of local charities, including the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity and St Peter’s Hospice.
