Santhosh Puthetu, a dedicated member of BrisKA and part of Sneha Ayalkkotam Fish Ponds, marked his 50th birthday in Bristol, UK, with a meaningful adventure. Gifted a skydiving challenge by a friend, he leapt from 10,000 feet over Salisbury, experiencing a 30-second free fall before deploying his parachute. Beyond the thrill, the skydive was a fundraiser for Dementia UK, raising £1,650. Santosh described the effort as deeply personal, highlighting the need for collective action to support and uplift the elderly affected by dementia.

Santhosh celebrated his milestone 50th birthday in Bristol, UK, by reaching literal soaring heights, all for a noble cause. An unusual gift from a friend, a skydiving challenge ticket, led him on an unforgettable adventure.

In Salisbury, expert instructors prepared him for the jump. Soon, he found himself 10,000 feet above the ground, taking in the breathtaking aerial view before the pivotal moment arrived.

“It was a 30-second free fall, almost a kilometre of sheer rush, before the parachute opened,” Santosh recalls. “Unlike bungee jumping or rollercoasters, there was nothing to hold onto—it was pure free fall.”

The skydive was about more than adrenaline. It was a meaningful effort to raise funds for Dementia UK, a dementia nursing charity. Santhosh raised £1,650, saying, “This cause is close to my heart. Dementia often marginalises the elderly, and we cannot rely on governments alone. Imagine the impact if a thousand people did something similar.”
